Terms of Service

Short, plain-English terms for a free tool. Your files stay yours, the service comes as it is, and you are responsible for checking the result before you submit it.

Last updated

These terms govern your use of https://mb2kb.online (“the site”, “Mb2KbSizer”, “we”, “us”) and all the tools, articles and pages on it. Please read them together with our Privacy Policy and Disclaimer.

1. Acceptance

By opening the site, compressing a file or reading an article you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, the remedy is simple: do not use the site. If you are below the age at which you can enter into a contract where you live, use the site only with a parent’s or guardian’s permission.

2. The service

Mb2KbSizer lets you shrink images (JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, AVIF and, where your browser can decode them, HEIC) and PDF files to a target size in kB or MB, with optional resizing and format conversion. All processing runs in your browser; files are never uploaded to our servers. The service is free of charge, needs no account, has no premium tier and no API. It may be funded by clearly labelled advertising after the relevant advertising account and site configuration are enabled. We may add, change, pause or withdraw any feature at any time without notice, and we may stop running the site altogether.

The tool needs an internet connection to load the page, a current browser and enough memory on your device to hold the file. Maximum input sizes are 60 MB for an image and 100 MB for a PDF. Password-protected PDFs are not supported.

3. Acceptable use

You agree to use the site only for lawful purposes and in a way that does not harm it or anyone else. In particular you must not:

  • use automated scripts, bots or scrapers to load pages, fetch our assets or trigger compressions at volume;
  • probe, overload, disable or bypass any security or rate-limiting measure, including those on the contact form;
  • click on ads to generate revenue artificially, or ask others to do so;
  • copy, mirror or frame the site or its tools on another domain;
  • use the contact form to send spam, abuse or unlawful material;
  • compress files that you have no right to possess or process.

We can block any IP address, network or user agent that breaches these rules, with or without notice.

4. Your files remain yours

You keep every right you already have in the files you compress. Because the files are processed on your device and never reach us, we acquire no copy, licence or right of any kind in them, and we cannot access, recover or delete them for you. You alone are responsible for the content of your files and for having the rights needed to process them.

5. Intellectual property in the site

The text, articles, illustrations, layout, code and the Mb2KbSizer name and logo belong to us or our licensors and are protected by copyright and trade mark law. You may read our articles, share links to them and quote short extracts with attribution and a link back. You may not republish our content in bulk, feed it into automated systems at scale, or present it as your own. Open-source software used inside the tool, such as Mozilla’s pdf.js and pdf-lib, remains under its own licence.

6. Checking the result is your job

Portal rules on file size, pixel dimensions and format differ from one body to the next, and they change. The target you type is what the tool aims for; our articles and preset pages describe limits as published at the time of writing. Before you submit a compressed file to an examination board, a government portal, an employer or anyone else, verify that it meets that body’s current rules, and keep your original. We are not responsible for rejected applications, missed deadlines or fees arising from a file that did not meet a requirement.

7. No warranty

The site and its tools are supplied “as is” and “as available”, with no warranty of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy or non-infringement. We do not promise that the site will be free from errors or interruptions, that a particular target size can always be reached, or that output quality will suit every use. Browser bugs, device limits and future changes to file formats are outside our control.

8. Limitation of liability

As far as the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive loss, or for loss of data, revenue, profits or opportunity, arising from your use of or inability to use the site, even if we were told such loss was possible. Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability for all claims in any twelve-month period is capped at the amount you paid us to use the service, which is nil. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

If advertising is enabled, ads may be served by Google AdSense and its partners. We do not endorse advertisers and are not a party to any transaction you make with them. Our pages link to external sites such as official portals and technical documentation; we are not responsible for their content, availability or practices, and a link does not imply affiliation or endorsement.

10. Changes to these terms

We may revise these terms from time to time. The date at the top shows the current version, and significant changes are noted on this page. Using the site after a revision means you accept the revised terms.

11. Termination

You can stop using the site at any time; nothing of yours is held by us, so there is nothing to close or delete. We may suspend access for anyone who breaches section 3. Sections 4 to 9 survive termination.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the operator is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and any dispute will be heard by the courts of that jurisdiction. If a court finds any clause unenforceable, the remaining clauses continue in force. Consumers in some countries have mandatory rights under local law, and nothing here takes those away.

13. Contact

Questions about these terms: mb2kbsizer@gmail.com or the contact form.
